eSIM Infrastructure
Degenphone connects blockchain-owned NFTs to real telecommunications networks through eSIM technology and carrier partnership.
What is eSIM
eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that works without physical cards. Instead of inserting plastic SIM cards into phones, eSIM profiles activate remotely through software.
Degenphone uses eSIM technology to connect your NFT ownership to actual phone numbers on carrier networks. When you unlock a number, an eSIM profile activates on telecommunications infrastructure.
How Numbers Work
When you unlock a Degenphone number, the system activates an eSIM profile linked to that number on partner carrier networks. The number becomes functional for receiving SMS and eventually making calls.
Messages sent to your number travel through standard telecommunications protocols to the carrier network, then get routed to your Degenphone dashboard interface.
The process uses SMPP (Short Message Peer-to-Peer) protocol, the industry standard for SMS transmission between telecommunications networks. This ensures compatibility with any service sending SMS.
Real vs Virtual Numbers
Degenphone numbers are real eSIM numbers connected to actual carrier infrastructure. They are not virtual numbers that only work within specific apps or platforms.
Virtual numbers route through software systems and often have limited compatibility. Real eSIM numbers work with any service accepting standard phone numbers because they connect to legitimate telecom networks.
This distinction matters for service acceptance. Banks, exchanges, and platforms that block virtual numbers accept Degenphone numbers because they're real telecommunications infrastructure.
