Number Types (Fresh vs Recycled)
Degenphone numbers come in two types based on their usage history: Fresh and Recycled.

Fresh Numbers
Fresh numbers have never been activated or used. No one has ever unlocked them for SMS reception or registered them on any service. When you buy a Fresh number, you're the first person to use it. This matters because some users want numbers with zero history for maximum privacy or to avoid potential blocks from services that might have flagged the number previously.
Fresh numbers are marked with a "Fresh" badge on the marketplace and in the number details page. You can filter for Fresh numbers specifically when browsing available inventory.
Recycled Numbers
Recycled numbers were previously activated and used by at least one owner. Someone unlocked the number, received SMS with it, and potentially registered it on various platforms before selling it. The number works exactly the same as Fresh numbers from a technical standpoint.
Recycled numbers show a "Recycled" badge on the marketplace. They may have registration history on certain services that can be checked using the verification tool. Some Recycled numbers might be blocked on specific platforms if the previous owner violated terms of service.
Which Type Should You Choose?
Fresh numbers work better if you need guaranteed clean history and want to avoid any potential service blocks. They typically command higher prices on the secondary market due to their pristine status.
Recycled numbers work fine for most use cases and often cost less. Check the verification tool before buying to see if the number has any problematic history with services you plan to use.
The type doesn't affect the number's core functionality. Both Fresh and Recycled numbers connect to the same telecom infrastructure and work identically once activated.
